Peace Foundation to support Survivors Against Terror Network
The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Peace Foundation, through the Survivors Assistance Network, is a specialist in trying to prevent violent extremism and in assisting survivors, acting as an advocate in ensuring that those affected are provided with relevant and appropriate support The charity works in partnership with a range of agencies to provide support to those affected and is today joining with the newly formed Survivors Against Terror.
Survivors Against Terror is a network of family members who have lost a loved one to terror and survivors of terror attacks. The Survivors Against Terror mission is to help our country tackle terrorism more effectively and ensure victims and their families get the support they deserve. Survivors Against Terror is made up of a wide range of people, from different backgrounds and with very different experiences.
The Peace Foundation will provide support to the network members and will offer its trauma-informed assistance. The primary focus of the Peace Foundation is to help people cope and recover, this may include those people who wish to advocate and campaign for change and the new partnership will see people referred to the network, but with appropriate support available.
SAN is managed by professional caseworkers supported by mental health consultancy. Everyone is given a personalised package of care and offers a network of support through local and national organisations and information as to how to access these.
In addition, SAN has specialist knowledge relating to terrorism, trauma-informed practice, educational groups and manages commemorative events which offer the opportunity to meet others who have been affected by terror attacks.
The team support people in many ways, for example, through an inquest process, or in accessing compensation or gaining appropriate clinical, welfare and social support
